The Radiology Technologist II will perform all procedures with verified competence, within 3 or more Radiology modalities which include, but are not lim! ited to routine x-ray, fluoroscopy/surgery, ultrasound, CT and MRI. The Radiology Technologist II will demonstrate expertise on 3 modalities and fulfill obligations to the designated modalities based upon the needs of the Orthopedics department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(EF) 1. Perform all diagnostic x-ray procedures including portable exams and exams Ordered in the OR, as ordered by Radiologists, Surgeons or referring physicians.

(EF) 2. Will be able to enter patient demographics and required information into the Radiology Information System (RIS) with accuracy.

(EF) 3. Will be able to independently transfer, QC and verify exams into PACs system and be able to transfer to CD and Film printer as required. Be able to merge patients and exams into correct folders in PACs and correct any demographic errors from admitting or Imaging Department.

! (EF) 4. Be competent to troubleshoot minor system problems wit! h PACs and instruct peers, and other departments in PACs operation.

(EF) 5. Be responsible for overseeing and instructing Radiological students in correct procedures in exams and with the PACs/RIS systems.

(EF) 6. Performs in the capacity as modality leader where and when applicable. Is responsible for keeping service records on PM's and down time on specified equipment and notifying Service when there is an apparent problem with the equipment per department procedures.

(EF) 7. Understand and follow departmental policy and procedures for Radiation protection of employee and patient.

(EF) 8. Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records and computer security codes, as well as protects the integrity of privileged information.

(EF) 9. Monitors supplies to maintain par levels and reports and or orders needed supplies.

(EF) 10. Demonstrates ICARE Values

(EF) 11. Follows a! ll safety rules on the job. Reports accidents promptly, & corrects minor safety hazards.

(EF) 12. Performs other work as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The Radiologic Technologist II must have at least 5 years experience in diagnostic x-ray, and a minimum of 1 year, proficient experience in two other modalities as outlined in Job Summary.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (preferred)

Medical Radiological Technologist Certificate from Texas Department of Health (required)

Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (required)

Ultrasonographers not registered as RDMS, but are proficient in performing Ultrasound procedures will fall into the Radiological Technologist II category if registered by the American! Registry of Radiological Technologists and proficient in performing Ra! diological exams. Will be expected to utilize skills in ultrasound under supervision of registered Ultrasonographer.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES REQUIRED

Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English. Bilingual abilities a plus. Willing to cross train in multimodalities other than ones with demonstrated proficiencies , i.e.: CT, MRI, U/S, and DEXA etc. Advanced computer skills a plus such as knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access etc.

The Radiological Technologist II is expected to take responsibilities on departmental/ facility committees, and participate in hospital sponsored community events.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Indoor environment. High volume of in- coming calls. Overtime may be required. Schedule subject to change as needed.
