The Histology Technician plays an essential role in the surgical patient's diagnosis by preparing routine and STAT microsc! opic slides from all tissue removed during surgery procedures that will be interpretated by the Pathologists in the diagnosis of disease.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School/GED
Preferred Education: Four Year Degree
Minimum years in field previous to employment: 3
Preferred number of years in field: 5
Experience and training necessary for all of the following equipment: Cryostats Microtomes Processors (Tissue) Automated Stainers Balances pH meters Microscopes Computers.
Registry with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists Board of Registry as HT(ASCP) is highly desirable.
