Regular Shift and Salary Grade Shift: Full Time 8am-5pm

Salary Grade: 6 Position Summary Overview:
Provide excellent customer service by being able to rotate into various patient visit cycle roles (welcome desk check-in, weigh and measure/ rooming, provider assist and check-out/discharge). Assigned to various job roles to coordinate patient flow and provider schedules and effectively manage patient visit cycle time.

Responsibilities:
Welcome the patient/family and respond to questions; inform of delays; approach dissatisfied customers; collaborate with others to develop quality service-focused measures; track prolonged wait times for patients and investigate cause; obtain transla! tion services as needed. Observe and enforce guidelines for in! fection control; clean toys. Greet and register the patient/family when they arrive; obtain and verify patient's demographic data for each encounter; determine and collect co-pay or visit services fees at each encounter; distribute paging device and instruct on waiting time and clinic location; communicate patient's arrival and ready-to-room status with clinic; refer patients with inadequate funding to the financial counselor; document receipt of funds from patient; reconcile fee receipts with scheduled patients report daily; enter transactions to correct institution's cost accounting system; initiate investigation into variances regarding cash/funds; reconcile petty cash count and report overage/shortage; complete and submit daily batch and credit card transaction reports to cashier. Take and record vital signs, height, weight, allergy status, current immunizations, medications, past procedures, pain, chief complaint and point-of-care testing; identify and report abnormal ! vital signs; use the clinic's patient tracking system to notify and update staff of patient's location, time placed in room, and time appointment scheduled. Transport patient specimens or utilize the P-tube for transport. Inspect and oversee equipment readiness, corrective action and follow-up (daily calibrations, point-of-care testing quality control/check, equipment temperature checks and equipment preventative maintenance schedule). Document telephone or refill messages and notify provider to take action. Assist in the exam room with procedures and paperwork. Assist in patient flow and scheduling for the clinic. Assist the provider in the exam room with procedures and paperwork. Complete check out for patients and families, performing order entry and schedule ancillary testing for patients as ordered by the provider.

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of nursing/medical assistant patient care tasks, the managed care industry, appointment scheduling, rela! ted medical terminology and customer service concepts. The ability to o! perate a personal computer and basic clinic/patient care and office equipment. Demonstrate interpersonal skills; good verbal communication skills; good time management skills; excellent customer services skills. The ability to demonstrate quick decision-making and self-initiated work behaviors is necessary.

Education, Experience and Licensure:
High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred). Certification as a medical assistant required. In lieu of a CMA, EMT will be accepted. Minimum of two (2) years related experience required. Experience in a healthcare setting or customer service focused industry preferred. Outpatient clinic operations experience is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
