The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Chair for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. This position represents a tremendous opportunity for a qualified individual in several respects:

• The Orthopaedic Surgery Department at UT Southwestern is recognized for excellence in graduate medical education, trauma, pediatric orthopedic surgery, as well as other significant teaching and clinical strengths.
• The new Chair is expected to be instrumental in a planned growth of the clinical activities and faculty of the department paralleling the growth of the overall campus and activities at UT Southwestern.
• Furthermore, the new Chair will oversee the move of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department into the new State-of-the Art William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, currently being constructed on the UT Southwestern campus with an expected opening in the fall of 2014.

The responsibilities of the Chair include the direction and administration of the professional, educational and research programs of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, the Chair will oversee, coordinate and encourage research within the Department. Candidates must have a distinguished record in Orthopaedic Surgery, outstanding surgical skills and commensurate clinical activities, and possess strong leadership abilities and management experience. Candidates must have a firm commitment to the education of fellows, residents and medical students, and qualify for the rank of Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery. Eligibility for a Texas Medical License is required.
