Position Description:Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the surgical team through case preparation, surgical assistance, and after care of operating room patients, equipment and supplies. The technician also participates in unit activities.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Required: High School diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technician or currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technician Program. Demonstrated competency in two (2) or more surgical specialties.
Certified Surgical Tech.Preferred: A recent graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician Program or enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technician program.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Demonstrates effective working knowledge of equipment used in work area.Demonstrates effective guest relations with internal and external customers.Demonstrates knowledge of Meditech and general computer skills.Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information.Participates in budget control by using only those supplies necessary within the work area.Demonstrate an understanding of HCA’s and St. David’s "Patient First" safety initiatives through strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.Accepts shift work, and takes call as required by the department.Works with patients ranging in life span from infant to geriatric.LICENSES /CERTIFICATIONS:Required: Current certification as BLS Healthcare Provider
