Location: Fort Worth, Texas

Job Purpose:

Responsible for expert relations with the clients, customers, hospital staff, physicians and physicians' office personnel. The Scheduler provides the pre-registration function for patients of all ages who present to the hospital for treatment or services.

Minimum Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.

Work Experience:

Two years’ work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Previous surgery scheduling experience preferred.

Special Requirements:

Verbal and writing ability required to communicate effectively in informing employees of activities and policies. Numerical ability required. Ability to receive, comprehend, and carry out instructions; ability to work safely with equipment, supplies, and materials; ability to comply with attendance requirements; ability to comply with Human Resource policies.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Schedule all cases as requested by clinical staff.
  • Support the clinical staff by providing available dates and times for surgery.
  • Consult the surgery booking plan for each patient and schedule all aspects of the case accordingly.
  • Act as a liaison to communicate orders and details of case to hospital and the physician’s nurse.
  • Coordinate schedules of multiple doctors. Assist clinical staff in arranging surgical assists as needed.
  • Ensure that all required special equipment for a case is requested and provided.
  • For USMD cases, fax reservation sheets in a timely manner.
  • Monitor physicians’ surgery schedule to ensure efficient and productive use of physician time, as well as promote maximum utilization of USMD block time.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality.
  • Participate in all other communal job duties necessary for functioning of the office.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times with coworkers, patients, physicians, vendors, and others.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
