Maintains goals and objectives of the
Transplant Department. Serve as a resource person to any hospital
employee/department as req! uested. The Live Donor Nurse is Registered
Nurse whose primary responsibilities are directly involved with
coordinating the clinical aspects of care for the living donor and
the kidney paired program. The nurse works with the
potential donor and family beginning with the request for
information, referral, evaluation and continuing through and after
the donor surgery, in a compassionate and tactful manner in order to
facilitate access to and provide continuity of care. The Live
Donor nurse also works with the other member of the transplant
team. The Live Donor Nurse is not involved with the potential
recipient evaluation, is independent of the decision to transplant
the potential recipient and, consistent with the live donor
protocol. Meet as needed with Live Donor Committee to
review status of potential donors. Assist Transplant
Director in implementing and maintaining updated reports in
order to comply with The Jo! int Commission, OSHA, CDC, DSHS,
UNOâs, and any other go! verning body. Maintain department
records of live donor activities and Live Donor Committee
Meetings. The Live Donor Nurse will be available to be on-call
on weekends, after hours and holidays in order to cover organ on-call
coverage. This position summary contains the most relevant

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS :
1. One to two years of
nursing experience in a hospital clinical setting.
2.
Additional training in nephrology, transplantation and critical
care are preferred
3.
Working knowledge of medical surgical and renal care for all
age groups.
4. Certified Transplant
Coordinator preferred
5. Bilingual
preferred.
6. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to
STHSâs Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through
compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct,
att! endance at required training and immediately reporting suspected
compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. Registered Nurse
currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state
license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas
while waiting to receive the permanent one. BSN preferred
