Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) that is licensed or in the immediate process, and qualifies, of obtaining RN licensure in this respective state to work in the! specialty area of the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR).
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for the delivery and coordination of patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include assessing plans and evaluating the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after a surgical procedure. Proving nursing care to the patient undergoing surgical procedures, provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients, participates in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation, and carries out physician orders. The CVOR RN also administers prescribed medications, applies dressings, monitors vital signs, assists physician during procedures, maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. She/he coordinates the operating room with respect to sterility, cleanliness, availability of! functioning equipment and supplies, ensures the proper handli! ng of specimens, and serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care. The RN also monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems, provides age and culturally appropriate care, orients and mentors new staff members, and follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. This location has 10 operating rooms with 300-400 surgeries per month including Heart, Neuro and Robotics but no Eye Surgery.
Requirements include:
Must have graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing with a BSN preferred.Current state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or willing to obtain licensure in another state, assuming that all pre-requisites have been satisfied.
Current CPR certification.
Current BLS and ACLS card.
2 years current experience in the operating room, open heart experience is preferred.Ability to perform work ! that required frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.Duties and Responsibilities
Assesses patient needs, signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses.
Documents the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions.
Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment.
Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education.
Revises and documents the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions.
Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environme! nt and equipment.
