Experienced certified OR technician in OB services 7p-7aThe surgical technologists will be working directly with the surgical team. The surgical technologists will be responsible for preparing the surgical suite according to age specific, medical condition and surgeon preference. The candidate will also perform appropriate sponge, sharp and instrument counts according to hospital policies and procedures. It will be required for the candidate to cross train to other surgical areas in our system. The candidate will demonstrate competency to aseptic surgical equipment annually.
Th! e surgical technologist is responsible for:
?all suppl! ies and equipment needed for surgical procedures
?surgeons preference cards and updating them
?functioning within their scope of practice in the surgical field and while providing patient care.
?following the direction of the Surgical Coordinator and Director
2. Surgical technologist will demonstrate efficiency in the following areas during surgical procedures.
?Maintaining a sterile field during surgery
?Collecting surgical supplies and setting up cases
?Anticipating surgeon's needs during the procedure.
?Other job duties not specified here however, deemed necessary by the Surgery Director and Surgery Supervisor.
5.Prepares room and sets up according to physicians preference cards
?Prepares set up appropriately according to patients age and medical history
?Performs appropriate sponge, sharp and instrument counts
?Has good knowledge of appropriate use of all surgical instruments
?Uses instruments only for what t! hey were designed to do
?Appropriate care and handling of instruments and equipment
?Ability to scrub for all surgical procedures including endoscopies
?Demonstrates competency to aseptic surgical equipment annually
1.Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification
2.Willingness to be cross trained to other areas
