UMC Surgical Technician

Location: Lubbock Texas

Description: UMC Health System is at present recruited UMC Surgical Technician right now, this position will be placed in Texas. Detailed specification about this position opportunity kindly read the description below. Effective 9/1/2010, to be qualified, the surgical technologist must (1) have successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical technologists or (2) have completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the army, navy, air force, marine corps, or coast guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service. Surgical technologist must hold approved certification recognized by the State of Texas (see list under Required Licensures/ Certifications/ Registrations). A surgical technologist may be employed during the peri! od after graduation until certification, but the technologist ! must obtain certification within 180 days of graduation. Associate Degree is desired. Know clinical standards and practices of surgical technology. Has understanding of anatomy, or scientific and technical activities for responding to medical problems and concepts. Minimum of two years in OR as a Surgical Technologist desired, with a minimum of 1 year experience in the specialty desired.

The area where work is performed is a high-risk area for exposure to the blood borne pathogens. Works in a well lighted heated and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs in the department as prescribed by the philosophy of the hospital. May be required to work units other than the assigned one.

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) administered by National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) administered by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or Certified First Assistant (CFA) admini! stered by National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) administered by National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA), or Licensed Surgical Assistant (LSA) administered by Texas Board of Medical Examiners (TBME), or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with current licensure from Texas Board Nurse Examiners (TBON). Associates degree in Surgical Technology desired. Maintain current CPR certification.
