Under the direction of the OR Director, is responsible for the mechanical operation of all sterilizers, cleaning and reprocessing of surgical instruments and equipment. Pulls the proper instruments and sterile equipment for each case scheduled in surgery. Cleans and reprocesses all instruments and equipment used in OR, ER, nursing units. Maintains accurate records of all sterilizing processes.
DUTIES
Knowledge of principles of asepsis and sterilization standards. The ability to communicate effectively in En! glish, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work with othe! r members of the healthcare team to meet patient needs. Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, employees, supervisor and other hospital employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in instrument reprocessing and/or surgical scrub role. Minimum one year relevant experience. Certification in Sterile Processing required. Knowledge of principles of asepsis and sterilization standards. The ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
