The Perioperative Registered Nurse Coordinator is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care for the patient in the surgical suite. The Perioperative RN demonstrates competence in the planning of care for the patient throughout the perioperative process. The Perioperative RN participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other! disciplines in maintaining standards of professional nursing ! practice in the operating room setting through the use of evidence based medical practices.
The Specialty Coordinator provides assistance/education to other staff members, coordinates ordering of specialty supplies/equipment/instrumentation, and consults with physicians of the particular specialty.
Qualifications
Current state licensure or eligibility to do so.
AORN Certification preferred
CPR certification
ACLS or PALS optional
